Digitized Ecosystems

The aim of the course is to provide business insight: a focused and practical real-world framework around the computer science academic lectures. It will be built over the structure of Dr. Edward Deming’s 14 key principles, providing an updated interpretation which incorporates evolving technological innovations with a humanistic economic approach.

The course will provide the tools for students to further excel in their career as:

• Senior technology specialists,
• Management Level,
  and
• Entrepreneurs.

„Digitized Ecosystems” will serve as a bridge between academic technology input and practical business implementation and business models “digital transformation”.

Upon completion of the course, students will learn the skills to:

1. Apply a systematic approach to solving business problems (with particular focus on IT-enabled solutions);
2. Understand that successful efforts at digitization have to keep both technological and managerial perspectives in mind
3. From a technological perspective, understand that information and communication technologies define the information and communication infrastructure of the firm, enabling new ways to digitize business processes
4. Identify ways information systems can improve on the internal efficiencies and decision making of an organization;
5. Using a collection of cases, study how the deployment of information technology changes interactions and processes within and across organizations, within industries, and across society drawing directly from the experience of leading CEO’s, entrepreneurs and specialists about the topics covered in the course

The course is an introduction to the business-focused area of competences for SEMP (Software Engineering Management Program) in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and with the support of USAID and America for Bulgaria Foundation. The cоurse refers to the Models of Software Quality (CMMI-based), and leading team/project set of courses.
